In honor of Liam and Reece Kelly who were tragically killed in a plane crash on September 20th, 2020, this annual scholarship in cooperation with the Liam and Reece Kelly Foundation will provide a scholarship for cross country athletes at Westfield (IN) High School.

Liam was a senior and Reece was a sophomore. Both had goals to attend the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO to pursue aeronautical engineering and ultimately become commercial pilots.

Liam & Reece loved their teammates and this scholarship will be a legacy that will provide support in a way that would bring honor to them both for years to come.

The amount of the scholarship and the number of scholarships awarded will be determined annually by the Kelly Family.

Qualifications: 

• WHS senior that has participated in cross country for all 4 yrs. Special preference for JV athletes. 
• Candidates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be preferred although 3.0-3.5 GPA will also be considered.  
• Athletes must have an acceptance letter to an accredited university or college of his/her choice with intent to start classes the following fall semester.

In a separate document, please include the following:

• Name
• Address
• Phone
• Email
• Current GPA
• Copy of School Transcript 
• Copy of SAT or ACT scores
• Which college you plan to attend and what your major will be
• WHS cross country and/or track participation-please list years involved and any awards
• Academic achievements- please list academic honors and/or awards. You may include all athletic participation prior to high school.
• Employment history
• Personal essay- describe your educational & career goals, community involvement and any volunteer work. Essays should be limited to 2 pages.
• 2 letters of recommendation- one from a coach and the other from a mentor. This mentor can be from the school, church, work or volunteering but should be someone that has been present in your life for more than 2 yrs. 
• Please share any memories you have of Liam and Reece.

All applications should be received by April 1st of your senior year. 

Recognition of the scholarship award will be given at the WHS Awards Ceremony. The funds will be sent to the Bursar’s office of the intended College/University. Please email any forms required by your school and a senior picture to liamandreecekellyfoundation@gmail.com once you’ve been selected as a scholarship recipient.

The application, essay, and letters of recommendation can be hand delivered to the Counseling Center or emailed to the administrative assistant, Tara McCrary at mccraryt@wws.k12.in.us
